I'm going to be reserving the campgrounds in the next week. So I need to know roughly how many are planning to come, and if you're planning on bringing an RV or tent camping. We can have as many tents on the allotted space as we can fit, but are allowed only one RV per reserved space.
The event is timed to coincide with Rock Creek Trail Days at the Rock Creek Station State Historical park. It's about a half mile walk through the woods, or a 5 minute drive on the roads, from the campgrounds to the historical park.
On Friday we'll visit the Pony Express Stables and Patee House (PAY-tea) in St. Joe. We'll also stop at the Gothic Tea House for a short snack. I promise to make reservations this time!
St. Joe is about a 2.5 hour drive from the campgrounds. If the group prefers, we can meet in KC on Thursday, spend Friday morning in St. Joe (just a hop across the river), then drive on to Rock Creek. That would save 2.5 hrs on the road. Along the Pony Express Highway 36 through Kansas to Nebraska we can also stop at the museum in Seneca and the old station at Hollensberg.
Saturday we'll attend the Trail Days events at the park.
Sunday is about The Young Riders. Fan Fiction writing and reading. Watching the show. Discussions. In the afternoon we do a live tweet/Facebook Live/Periscope from the McDonald's in Fairborn (there's next to no signal available at the campgrounds! Totally OFF THE GRID!). We end the day with a walk through the station grounds after all the other campers have left for the weekend. It's a very peaceful, reflective time and the favorite of many who attend.
Join the fun! The more the merrier.
